Which Therapy is right for you?
There are several popular modalities of therapeutic massage. Each one has its own unique character, focus, technique and principal in balance.
Some are more effective for desired goals than others. How do you know which one is best for you?
Swedish Massage Therapy
This is the most common type of massage. It includes long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive joint movements using a light to moderate amount of pressure. This therapy promotes general relaxation, improves blood circulation, range of motion and relieves muscle tension.
Deep Tissue Therapy
This type of massage involves the deeper muscle tissue and the fascia in order to relieve pain in the body’s muscular skeletal system. Deep tissue releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep elbow / forearm pressure to concentrated areas, either following or cross fiber of the grain of the muscle, tendons and fascia.
Pregnancy Massage Therapy
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage — to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.
