Types of Laser Treatments for the Face & Body
When considering lasers, it’s important to understand some of the terminology used, so that you make the best treatment decisions. For example, a non-ablative laser is one that does not destroy the skin cells. Ablative lasers are skin-resurfacing solutions that remove the epidermal and superficial dermal layers of the skin to generate new growth.
Fractional lasers only impact a small portion of the skin. One way to think about it is as if you are enhancing a photo one pixel at a time. C02 lasers remove thin layers of skin, one at a time, with minimal damage to the surrounding areas.
Our professionals are more than happy to sit down with you during a complimentary consultation to discuss your laser treatment options in detail as they relate to your individual needs.
Pixel Laser Skin Treatment
Pixel laser skin resurfacing treatment creates thermal channels in the skin. It is ideal for reversing sun spots and removing tiny blood vessels that cause redness. One of our most popular non-ablative procedures, Pixel offers dramatic results to your overall appearance.
As a fractional ablative laser, Pixel results include collagen rebuilding, which works to smooth fine lines and wrinkles for skin tightening and texture improvement.
How Pixel Fractional Laser Resurfacing Works
The Pixel laser treatment is non-ablative and works by creating many tiny punctures in the skin. The surrounding tissue remains intact, allowing the skin’s top layer to quickly heal from the edge of these tiny holes.
Your body continues to produce collagen for six months after a Pixel laser session. Some patients opt for a follow-up appointment every month for three to five months, particularly if there are skin conditions that we are addressing.
Pixel Facial Treatment
You can expect some slight discomfort during your Pixel treatment as the non-ablative device works. However, we take steps to ensure that you are not in any pain. From the cooling technology built into the laser device to a topical anesthetic that relieves sensations, we provide the resources to help.
After treatment, the area will be red and swollen. This typically goes away within 24 to 48 hours. By the third or fourth day, your skin will flake and peel. It’s at this point that most patients can begin wearing mineral makeup. By the fifth day, your face will be healing up very nicely.
Keep in mind that laser treatment on the body takes significantly longer to heal than the face. This is because the face has more oil glands and skin growth happens more quickly.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy
IPL therapy improves the skin’s texture, pigment, and blood vessel issues. This light-based technology removes brown and red pigmentation through a process called photo-rejuvenation. It is also highly effective for hair removal. At Dōcerē Medical Spa and Laser Center, we can treat your face, hands, neck, and chest with a safe, low-risk solution.
Most patients choose anywhere from three to six photofacial treatments, with a month between sessions, to fully reach their goals. IPL therapy for laser hair removal typically requires more, so you can expect up to 12 treatments.
IPL Facial Treatment
If you’re addressing pigmentation challenges, the light will heat and destroy pigment cells. Lesions might appear darker for a few weeks post-treatment. As your body heals, pigment cells will flake off or break down for absorption.
If you’re using IPL laser treatment for blood vessel problems, the wavelengths will heat the blood supply within the vessel. This heat results in the blood thickening to adjust circulation, collapsing small, problem-causing veins for the body to absorb.
IPL Therapy Results & Side Effects
Discomfort is minimal, and the healing process runs quickly with IPL laser therapy. Like other laser solutions, IPL is often said to feel like the snap of a rubber band against your skin. Redness after treatment is very common. It might feel as though you sat out in the sun just a bit too long, but this will disappear in a matter of hours.
The less common side effects of IPL treatments include:
Once your body heals from the pulsed broadband light, you will be left with a fresh, youthful look. Sun damage, brown spots, and uneven skin tone can be corrected. Vascular lesions and red spots will vanish. Our team is here to help you reach your goals.

Lumenis ResurFX™ Laser
The ResurFX is a fractional, non-ablative laser treatment that brings transformational results. It’s a comfortable, fast treatment that can even target the early signs of aging.
The Lumenis ResurFX laser can target and improve:
How Lumenis ResurFX Fractional Laser Works
With top-tier technology, the ResurFX laser treatment stimulates new collagen production, going deeper into the layers of the skin to also promote elastic fiber growth. Over a sequence of three to five sessions (spaced about a month apart like other laser treatments), you will begin to see radiance return to your skin.
Lumenis ResurFX Treatment
During your appointment, one of our trained and skilled providers will cleanse the area and apply a topical numbing cream. Air cooling can also be used during treatment for additional comfort.
You can expect a sensation of warmth, with some prickling feelings, as the laser works. Each session lasts anywhere from 15-30 minutes after the numbing cream sets in. The length of your laser treatment depends on your specific concerns.
Lumenis ResurFX Results
Once your session is complete, some redness and swelling can occur. After a few days, you might notice that the treatment area appears bronze. This, along with a sandpaper-like texture on the area, means that your body is working on ridding itself of impurities and regenerating collagen.
Your complexion will quickly enhance, with full results continuing to show for up to six months. Of course, the aging process will continue, which means you are welcome to come back for a maintenance treatment.
