The Similarities Between Emsculpt and CoolTone

Both CoolTone and Emsculpt are FDA-cleared to strengthen and tone major muscle groups. They achieve this muscle strengthening by stimulating powerful contractions known as supramaximal contractions. Each treatment is 30 minutes and induces 20,000 supramaximal contractions.

Some patients are happy with the results they see after one of either treatment option. Others tend to prefer scheduling anywhere between two and four sessions with at least two or three days between. The more sessions, the more dramatic the results.

Regardless of which treatment you go with, either one brings more strength training than any person could achieve on their own. It’s simply not humanly possible to build muscle cells and strengthen existing fibers that fast. You’d have to physically do 20,000 exercises that target the area you’re hoping to tone, and even then, it’s not guaranteed. Both CoolTone and Emsculpt provide minimal pain, and convenient treatments with no recovery time necessary.

The difference lies in how each device achieves optimal results, and which method you prefer.

Emsculpt Vs. CoolTone: The Differences

Each of these treatments came from a different manufacturer. Emsculpt comes from BTL Aesthetics, while CoolTone comes from the same makers of CoolSculpting, the revolutionary fat-freezing treatment.

Besides their origins, CoolTone and Emsculpt have significant differences, including:

Emsculpt Has Fat Reduction Capabilities

One of the main things that sets these services apart is the duality of what they provide. CoolTone can only strengthen muscles, although it achieves highly desirable results doing so. Emsculpt, on the other hand, can reduce fat in targeted areas, plus tone muscles for more definition.

For some patients, this duality is the perfect solution – slimming down excess fat and then strengthening existing muscle for the finale. For others, fat reduction isn’t necessary. You might only need the extra help getting your muscles to tone. This gives you the flexibility to choose a treatment that only targets the areas you’re looking to enhance.

Emsculpt Has More Time on the Market

Emsculpt was the first FDA-cleared device to strengthen and tone muscles. CoolTone made its way to the market a few years after that. While Emsculpt has some advantages by being available longer, CoolTone makes up for its lost time by being one of the most revolutionary muscle-strengthening treatments.

CoolTone Has Revolutionary Muscle-Strengthening Advancements

As you know, both treatments induce contractions in the muscle tissues. But how they achieve those contractions is completely separate from one another.

CoolTone uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS), while Emsculpt uses Highly Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy. Emsculpt NEO takes its predecessor a step further by utilizing HIFEM energy and radiofrequency (RF) for additional fat cell death power. In studies monitoring patients that tried four rounds of Emsculpt or Emsculpt NEO, patients reported high satisfaction. There was an average of 2.0 mm increase in muscle thickness, a mean reduction of 2.8 mm (1/9 in) overall thickness.

CoolTone claims to have 50% more magnetic intensity measured in tesla (T) as compared to Emsculpt (1.35 T versus 0.9 T).

Each Targets Different Treatment Areas

CoolTone can strengthen the core, improving the abdominal muscles for firm results. It can also firm and strengthen the thighs and buttocks, providing a subtle lifting effect. This makes CoolTone a non-surgical butt lift alternative

Emsculpt can do the same but is also cleared to effectively target other areas, so you can bring more definition to your:

  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Calves
  • Thighs

Oftentimes, the choice of which treatment comes down to the area you want to define. But if you’re hoping to target an area that both options cover, it comes down to what you’d like to see in your results – fat reduction, muscle toning, or both.
